Aheart-filled family christmas: a collection of poetry and recipes - The Family (III) - Heart Filled With Hate - Wattpad

I’ve heard people say they would like to give handmade Christmas cards but they just don’t have time. I’ve thought about doing this myself but have stopped because it just feels so overwhelming to make a huge stack of cards. Well, this year I thought I’d do something new and just make one or two cards for special friends. Like you, I have special people in my life who I don’t see as often as I’d like and who I don’t usually see during the holidays. We don’t exchange gifts and when I send them a card I feel like I’m missing something.

So this year I’m thinking about creating homemade Christmas cards for them. I enjoy playing with paper-crafting; I’m not all that talented but I still enjoy messing around with it and I have lots of great Christmas paper and embellishments. It would be a fun way for me to relax for a while on the week-end and I would be making a little gift for someone I care about. They’ll know I was thinking about them and that I put some of “me” into the card. Perhaps they’ll feel a little more loved when they open it and that, after all, is the point of giving a card.

That’s what we all want right? A beautiful holiday, a stress free holiday, one that happens with joy and love and without stress, frustration, and overwhelm. Well, that’s what I want for you as well. Heck, that’s why I spend my days sharing all these ideas with you guys. That’s why I give you all these stress free holiday tips.

It’s that time of year again, time to get the kiddies off to school. This is also a time of year when moms get excited about having some routine in their life. Summer is wonderful but the constant ‘fly by the seat of your pants’ mentality can get really old. Personally I’m one of the moms looking forward to a little more routine. Yes, I know that once 3:00 hits things will be crazy with homework, activities and kids jobs, but from 7:30-3:00 I’m in control of my own destiny.

And yet…I don’t want the school days to make our life feel routine. I want to enjoy special moments and create some great memories for my kids, my husband, and myself. I’m watching friends send their kids off to college and I know that day is coming (and it’s coming way to fast) which makes me want to enjoy our family time now. So the question is this: How can I make school days special without exhausting myself?

The other day I experienced one of those blinding-flash-of-the-obvious moments. It had been really hot and humid so we had been running the air conditioning for several days. Then, in the early afternoon, I went out to run some errands…and it was gorgeous! It was 76 degrees and sunny with a nice breeze. And here we had spent the morning inside the house, complaining that it was kind of warm in there, when we could have opened the windows and enjoyed the wonderful weather.
