The Colombian Bucaramanga Supremo has been a mainstay in our classic coffee selection since the start of 32cup, just like the Brazilian Diamond . The Bucaramanga is a regional coffee and its name is equivalent to a classic, consistent quality: large beans and an accessibly smooth cup profile with a big body, rounded sweetness and chocolate notes as main features.

The Bucaramanga region lies in the Santander department, in the north of Colombia. Bucaramanga is the departmental capital. The department of Santander extends over Colombia’s eastern Andes range, close to the border with Venezuela. The region lies along the 9th parallel north, sharing latitude and crop cycle with growing regions in Panama, Costa Rica, India and Ethiopia, among others. This part of the country is known as the Northern region, sharing a couple of features across the different departments.

Since coffee cultivation takes place at lower altitudes and higher temperatures, the risk of roya infestation is a lot higher in this part of the country. Therefore, most of the farms in the region have resistant varieties under cultivation. Around 75% of the coffee fields are planted with Castillo, Colombia and Tabi varieties. At higher altitudes, around 25% remains planted with Caturra and Typica.
