The timelapse calculator allows one to quickly compute unknown parameters needed to collect video or sequences of still images to create timelapse videos.

Normally, one knows the first three and needs to determine the fourth. However, if one is using a video camera with "interval recording" then the Frame Interval will usually be a discrete, but changeable value so that it may be desired to get the exact Clip Length resulting from a given frame interval. Also, tape-based video cameras usually must take more than one frame per interval so that parameter is settable within Timelapse Calculator.

Another factor involved is the frame rate of the subsequent video playback. In the USA this is normally 30 frames per second (for normal video) or 24 frames per second for film-like playback. In Europe and many other countries of the world the video frame is 25 frames per second. All three of these values are selectable within Timelapse Calculator.

After performing the necessary calculations in my head time and time again, I figured there must be a better, simler way. So I created this simple calculator. Don't be deceived by the simplicity of this tool though, the results it will enable you to achieve will take your timelapse recordings to the next level.

If you have ever found the perfect location in ideal weather, then set out your camera to record for hours, only to review the footage and find it plays too quick or the video takes too long to play, then you need pro-lapse.

The super-experienced timelapse photographers amongst you may be able to judge the perfect settings just by getting a feel for things, just like with ISO, aperture and shutter speed. However, getting to that advanced level usually takes years of experience learning the hard way. Pro-lapse is your handy shortcut to getting top results without all those failed attempts to get the perfect shot.

We now have limited stock of the Naked Time Lapse Intervalometer (TL-004N) which is suitable for older GoPro cameras. If you are using a HERO3+ or HERO4 cameras, we suggest purchasing the all-new Blink , which has the same features but has more programming flexibility and is configurable using a simple Web Interface and more!

The Intervalometer is a small high quality circuit board that plugs into the HERO Port on the back of the GoPro camera. The Intervalometer is small enough to fit inside the GoPro HERO3 Frame Mount or the extended back doors provided with the GoPro accessories such as the GoPro LCD BacPac or the GoPro Battery BacPac .

In the time lapse operating mode, the Intervalometer can be programmed to turn the camera on at a regularly spaced interval so that the GoPro can capture an image or video before turning the camera off to maximize the battery life. In most cases, the camera will take about 700 images on a single battery charge (2,000 on the HERO2). These images can be spread over hours, days or even weeks without recharging the battery.
