La sirène: souvenir de capri (french edition) - Vidéo souvenir de fin de semaine! - YouTube

Jean Cocteau, the son of Georges and Eugénie, is born on July 5th in Maisons-Laffitte. The couple already have two children: Marthe, born in 1877 and Paul, born in 1881.

In the spring, grandmother Lecomte dies. The grandfather continues to live with his daughter. He looks after Jean and takes him to concerts at the Conservatory every Sunday.

At the Universal Exhibition, Cocteau is awestruck by the dance performance given by Loïe Fuller. In August, he holidays in Switzerland. In October, after a period of primary schooling that by all accounts was below average and often interrupted by ill-health, he begins his first year in high school at the Petit Condorcet. His fellow students include Dargelos whom he will transform into a legendary character.

The series has a the granite eagle, the eggs, the wall; sometimes there's a bird's nest. The broken window containing the image of the window was done again with Evening Falls.

"The Spilt" also known as  "The Break" (La Fissure) 1949

Because the money is US currency and Magritte has an art dealer in New York, Alexander Iolas, I could assume the break means a break from the past, it's almost as if we are arriving at the new world (America) on a ship.

The Flavor of Tears III- 1949

This is the third version of Flavor of Tears Magritte painted. Similar to the Treasure Island paintings it features a war bird. The principle character is being consumed by a catepillar.

Megalomania- 1949

The Importance of Marvels (L'lmportance des merveilles) was the first painting of this series done back in 1927 when Magritte was in Paris.

This venue and the hotel of which it is a part occupy a building dating back to the 14th century, and the wooden rafters and exposed brick give the place the feel of a Norman inn of days gone by. It certainly isn’t behind the times though, having received an award from Tables & Auberges de France . Le Mouton Blanc (The White Sheep) specializes in cooking its namesake, a relative rarity among the numerous crêperies of Le Mont-Saint-Michel. The roast lamb casserole and rack of lamb in particular are standout dishes.

Although hidden at the back of a souvenir shop, this cozy little crêperie is well worth hearing the siren’s call and ascending the 15th-century staircase. With your savory Breton galette (a buckwheat pancake) you can have a host of fillings like cheese, ham, salmon, egg, or vegetables. The sweet crêpes come loaded with your choice of fruit, chocolate, nuts, cream, or caramel. Salads are also served within the pleasant little dining room, as are coffee, wine, and Normandy cider.

The restaurant of the Hotel Auberge Saint-Pierre, located in the heart of Le Mont-Saint-Michel, offers a varied menu centered around Italian cuisine and seafood dishes. Inside, checkered tablecloths and log fires are enough to make anyone feel at home, but the outside terrace, with stunning views of the bay surrounding the island, is even more enticing. What better place is there to enjoy mussels, fish chowder, frutti di mare pasta, or Brittany lobster than in a chair overlooking the sea?
