We've had many temporary visitors, who only graced our home long enough to rebuild their health and then move on to a more permanent, loving home. I especially enjoy helping little mamas to give birth to a healthy litter, then help them raise their puppies to weaning age, afterwhich I can find mama and all the babies new homes. The local dogpound knows a good sucker when they see one, and quite often give me a call when they have a small female that is pregnant. Folks don't generally want to adopt a pregnant dog, but if I can foster her long enough for her puppies to make weaning age, we almost always find them all a good home. Below are some of their stories, and pictures.

Nancy, I just looked at your web sight and you seem to genuinely care about animals I am not sure if you can help me or not but I have a 5 year old westie that has been batteling severe skin codition for about 2 years, the vet says it is probably allergies and we have tried every dog food under the sun, food suppliments, medicated shampoos etc. The typical treatment for her has been prednisone but I dont think that is a good long term answer. Rhiley is such a fun loving little dog with personality plus but this skin problem is making her absolutely miserable. Do you have any suggestions? it would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely, Sherry

Nancy
Just wanted to thank you for taking the time to send the information on dealing with my dog Rhiley's skin condition, we are using the shampoo and leave in conditioners and her skin for the first time in 2 years is finally healing, the fur is thickening up again, no more sores all over her body and she is no longer scratching 24-7... all this without the prednisone or expensive allergy testing that our Vet was suggesting. Rhiley is no longer miserable and her quirky little personality is back!!! we really can't thank you enough :)
sincerely, Sherry

Hollywood interpretations of true events always take some liberties with the truth, but the new film Loving —based on the intriguing story of Richard and Mildred Loving, the plaintiffs of the case Loving v. the Commonwealth of Virginia— adheres relatively closely to the historical account. Writer-director Jeff Nichols’ two-hour film chronicles the nine-year saga of the couple’s courtship, marriage, arrest, banishment and Supreme Court triumph in 1967, which declared state proscriptions against interracial marriage unconstitutional.

The film also, however, sticks close to popular myths that have dogged the case for decades, particularly by contextualizing the story within a black/white racial binary—when in fact Richard and Mildred Loving are prime examples of the way such lines have long been blurred.

This binary construction is nothing new. For example, it can already be seen in Simeon Booker’s Ebony Magazine article “ The Couple That Rocked Courts ,” which appeared several months after the Supreme Court decision. Booker situated Richard as a white man living in “the passing capital of America,” a place where black residents seemed nearly white too.
